Esthwaite Water
Esthwaite Water is a small lake, a few miles south on Hawkshead, flanked by two of Lakelands largest waters, Windermere and Coniston. The pretty little water seems not to see too many visitors, however there is a nice path along the eastern shore, which leads forms part of a decent walk taking in a good stretch of Windermere and on round to Sawrey and Hawkshead.
Esthwaite Fishing
If not heaving with walkers you will find a host of fishermen. The water is home to Sweated Trout Fishery, a professional set up offering a great days fishing. You can hire tackle by the day and try you hand at Coarse or fly fishing, casting form either the shore or hire a boat. The ELF have a great web site and even if you are a total beginner, it is worth giving them a call.
